"No good. Ordered a product that was cancelled and I never received any notification about it. Meanwhile I could have purchased the book somewhere else (Amazon) and not be 4 chapters behind now. That's what I get fo trying something new. This just reaffirms my beleifs in the ability Amazon has to deliver for it's patrons."

"To start let me tell you I have never been treated this bad by any customer service, or sales people ever in my life. I made an order to later find out it got canceled. When I inquired them about it, it turns out the book was no longer available, and they did not have a replacement to send me. What a bunch of bull! About an hour after I got the email that my order was canceled, I went back online and saw that what ACTUALLY happened is they decided to raise the price on the book (it was same description, same condition, same everything) and instead of honoring the price they sold me the book at they canceled my order. When I confronted them, the liars just denied there was ever a book to send me in replacement. Well of course they wouldn't know any better since by the time they wrote me back it was much later and the book has in fact been sold by that time. Do not buy from them, this is the more unprofessional business I have ever had to deal with!"

"Order book that showed available online, but then was reimbursed and told it was unavailable. Glad of reimbursement but product should not have been available. Was very disappointed."

"This is the worst company I have dealt with in quite a while. With so many terrible book sellers in the used textbook business, you would think the big guy would have to have a higher standard. These guys sent me my receipt and then 2 weeks later asked me for my feedback. I hadn't even received the book. I track the shipment and it says that it has been processed. Keep in mind I am now 2 weeks into the semester. They say that they are sorry but my book is unavailable. They said that an email had been sent. There was no email sent. I asked for a supervisor and she told me that "oops the email wasn't sent. sorry." we aren't going to help you get your book and we hope you get an "F" well that is what I will give them. I wish there were a zero star rating. Shame on them."

"My overall experience was below average. The book I received was in very poor condition: the cover was torn off and the pages were folded. I am disappointed that such a book would be resold through a commercial book retailer. "

It is now 17 Jan 2011 and I have yet to receive the books I bought. It looked like such a good deal for 2 medical textbooks, however that was probably a red flag.

When I contacted Bookbyte via the handy Chat function to inquire about the whereabouts of my books, the service rep replied with "I have given you a full refund." What in the world! I simply wanted to inquire the status of my order. They didn't even ask me if I wanted a refund.

Apparently, if one doesn't receive their books by now it is considered "lost in transit." This sounds so fishy. No tracking number either. (apparently Canadians don't get tracking numbers). My question is: was the books even sent at all?

So now it's 2 weeks into the semester and I have 0 books to work with. I should have read this site BEFORE I decided to fork over my credit card. It seems like they have a history of non-shipments whether your buying from or selling to them.

I am still awaiting the refund.

Their chat function is really good though. Never had to wait, and the reps are super nice."

“We're so sorry that your books did not arrive. Unfortunately we do not have the option for tracking with the method of shipment we use for International orders. We allow 14 business days for the order to get to you and then we provide a full refund.”

"I purchased a used text book from them, the promised time of delivery is 2-3 weeks. After more than 2 weeks, nothing came. I checked the status online, it said "Ordered". Emailed Bookbyte to inquire status, no reply for 2 days, contact them through live chat. The answer was the item is no longer available, therefore it was canceled. I received NO email or any notification. Because the item was sold by Student Marketplace through Bookbyte, they can't do anything. That was a poor excuse! If I purchase an item through Bookbyte, they better take some responsibilities. To me, that is just POOR customer service. I will not return to Bookbyte again, I will suggestion you to think twice before becoming their customer."

“We apologize for the inconvenience. Sellers do sometimes cancel orders because a book is sold on multiple venues. When a Marketplace order is cancelled we remove the charge and an automated email is sent to inform the customer of the cancellation.”

"I absolutely love Bookbyte! Every semester I peruse the many options for inexpensive books, but Bookbyte is the only one with consistently lowest prices. Sometimes I find comparable options on the upfront cost, but other places usually rack up shipping.

On my last order, I was a little surprised when I requested faster shipping and it applied the cost to each item rather than the whole order. It was only a $4 swing, but if I had any complaints about Bookbyte, it would be simply that their shipping charges are not clearly defined beforehand. (By clearly, I mean they don't have flashing lights and big letters, hardly a major concern).

I recommend the site to everyone trying to save on books!"
