"At first, I was a bit worried about buying a computer off the internet, especially when it came from the US (I live in Canada). Would there be brokage fee? What if the seller doesn't ship me the item? etc. I was also a bit worried about how Allpczone asked payment through bank wire and didn't accept paypal payment for international orders.

So.. basically, I'm writing today for all those who lives in Canada and are worried about purchasing a computer from AllPCzone / computerLX.com

1) Since the item was assembled in the US, I didn't have any brokage. I did have some taxes to pay though, so do be prepared to have to pay for federal taxes upon receiving the item.

2)Ebay protection does cover Bank wire transfer. So.. even if you do pay through bank wire, you still have a protection.

3) Everytime I contacted Allpczone, I spoke with the same sales person everytime. I really appreciate that.

4) Order arrived with no damage to the computer. Everything was working fine and my order was as asked.

5) The order was shipped via Fed ex.. what could you ask more? The computer was shipped and received within a few days.

For these five reasons, I definately do consider buying from allpczone / computerlx.com again. Their customer service is awesome. I didn't have to test out their technical support since everything worked well.. but I'm sure it's as good as their customer service.

Thank you AllPCzone / Computerlx.com"

"Very negative experience!

The barebones computer I ordered was obviously not well tested. In the middle of use, I heard a "clunk" and the PC shut down. Much to my horror, the CPU fan came off. The reason was the retention-clip used to hold the fan in place was broken.

I tried to email technical support and get a return authorization (for at least repair) and I was denied, and even got this terse response:

=================
CPU fans do not just "fall off", unless they are physically removed by someone, and improperly reinstalled. Removal of the CPU cooler does void the warrenty. We will see if we can help you reinstall it, but they will not issue an RMA for this issue.

In all probability, your CPU is ok, the systems have a protection circuit built in to prevent overheating damage.

Please call 440-684-9510 and we will see what can be done.
AllPCZone Tech Support
=======================

So not only was I denied a reasonable claim, but also ACCUSED of "tampering" with the system!

Nonetheless, I will never do business with them again and I urge you to do the same!!

I am now independently ordering a new cooler system and will install it myself. "

“First we certainly regret your dissatisfaction. I must admit to being just a little surprised that you'd make a purchase during October and wait until January to express this dissatisfaction, but that's certainly your prerogative.

Your warranty is fully intact and we will replace whatever needs to be replaced (parts without physical damage).

The email that was sent to you simply advised that physically damaged merchandise by the end user voids the warranty on that particular part. If the part is intact we will take full responsobility however if it is broken in pieces due to improper reinstallation we will not replace it.

I understand that you would like to hear "yes we will replace it" however sometimes we simply can't say that. We are rated in the top 50 of custom system integrators in the United States (top 15 on this site), unfortunately sometimes this rating creates a wrong impression of our company, an impression that no matter what consumers do to the merchandise Allpczone will be there to back them up and we will in most of the cases, however when we are being asked to replace physically destroyed component after 3 months from reciept and are threathened a negative if we don't, we have to say no.

If your fan is in one piece we would gladly assist you. Please contact us at 866-810-3808.

"When I opened the box everything seemed to be ok except the power button had a couple scrapes on it, no big deal. I plugged everything in and tried to turn it on. The power button went straight in and didn't spring back. I opened the box up and messed with the power switch and it sprung back after messing around with it for 2 seconds. I turned the computer on finally and it made a horrible sound like the fan was hitting something. I opened the other side of the box and saw some cord in the way of the fan moved it and restarted. Finally got the machine on and not making noise. I installed my OS and also my favorite game, which is the reason I bought this computer. It lasted about 2 minutes then it froze. I restarted several times, restoring original settings, doing everything you're supposed to do according to the WOW web board to get it working. Still kept freezing. I decided I was ready to make the return. I called customer service to make the return and Katie told me I had to talk with tech support to determine that my computer didn't work. I said fine and called Allpczone tech department. He offered me a couple of suggestions and I tried everything he said but it didn't work including new video drivers and a new processor patch. I called Katie again and actually asked to speak with the vice president of the company. I was denied access and she said she would have to confer with tech support about my issues. Then the worst part. Edward from tech support calls, yelling at me that im harassing his sales associate (Katie) and tells me I was rude to him when I called earlier in the day. He was so irate I asked to speak with another employee to which he responded " No. i'm not going to let you talk to anyone else here". He then stated that I would have to pay a 20% restocking fee to which I argued and said I was in my time frame for a complete return. He cut me off mid sentence by yelling my RMA number at me and hanging up the phone.

I agreed to their return terms under duress, fearing they would charge me more for not sending them the computer within a certain time frame.I paid 100$ out of my own cash to send it back. I called my bank within a week and explained what allpczone did to me and how i should not be charged the 20% restocking fee. they gave me my money back. Suprise suprise, who e-mails me after their money is taken away a month later by wells fargo? Mike, the vice president, who i had asked to speak with after my first encounter with Ed. In his e-mail he stated that Allpczone is a government contractor and the reason he told me this was because because half of his staff are Iraq and Afganistan veterans, including Ed. He advised me that they sometimes act in an inappropriate manner due to war trauma. Mike also tole me he had talked to Ed about his treatment to me and Ed admitted that he could have been a lot nicer towards me citing some war story that was the cause of his less than cordial behavior. Apparently this company has no problems hiring people with post traumatic stress to do their customer service/tech support. In the last paragraph of Mike's e-mail, he stated he would send me money for shipping costs for the return i had made (some 100 dollars) and that he was glad i had received my whole refund (to which i respond, only after wells fargo stepped in, Mike). I never got reimbursed for my shipping, instead he requested that i withdraw my negative e-bay review because it was "hurting his sales". I said i would get it reveresed in exchange for my shipping costs, but i was unable to as ebay changed their policy and i really dont know how to change their review back to neutral/positive, anyways they dont deserve it. I tried e-mailing him some 2 weeks after my original e-mail with Mike and someone from his company e-mailed me back stating he was in Japan at a computer conference. Japanese computer conferences, Psycho tech support, boy this place is beyond me. At that point i shut down communication with them and decided to let my bank do my talking. When i faxed wells fargo my dispute forms i did notice a message from allpczone to wells stating that i should be charged and they wanted to still charge me 20% restocking fee. My bank did not give them the money back. they fully refunded my money. Im happy with my new system from another company. it actually worked out of the box! AllPCZone responded to the 1st draft of this message by saying I was a former employee that stole merchandise and they fired me. That couldn't be further from the truth as I've lived in California my whole life and their business is in Ohio.. "

"The comment left by the computerLX store manager is by pure chance the owner as well. Now how many people out there can bet that when a person owns a company they will say, and do almost anything to protect it? Understandably I have no comment to re-butt a liar. Have fun lying to people Mike, the Russian owner/manager who is scared of losing customers due to a posting online. Nice story you made up, can't wait to see what you write next about your crapy customer service skills, lack of English, and no idea whatsoever on how to treat other people.

Pfft!

“Attention: Nut Alert

Calls our customer service department, starts yelling and screaming, uses profane language.

Here is what happened:

Bought a custom build unit, customized it without an optical drive or Windows operating system. Recieves it, calls us back and starts yelling that we screwed him over, when asked how replied that we build the system for him without a cd or an operating system, when we checked his order he didn't order none of those items, furthermore the default configuration included a cd drive which he took off to save a couple of bucks. He asked for a refund, and we agreed to refund him according to our refund policy.
So now we are a bad company that screwed him over and he is totally inocent, for all other customers: when you configure a custom build unit on our site or any other site out there please select the options that you want to have, if you don't select them unfortunately we are not trained to predict peoples minds.

"I was looking for a customizable computer online for a few weeks, I did a lot of research and found many websites that were very fishy and had bad reviews. I came upon www.computerlx.com and their deals seemed almost too good to be true. The only reviews I could find on them were from www.resellerratings.com, and their ebay page - but their scores were GREAT. After customizing what computer I wanted, I decided I would take a chance at this website after reading nearly every review I could find. I ordered the customized computer, and 10 minutes later Katie called me and told me that the motherboard I chose couldn't support the ram that I had picked out (d'oh). She was VERY helpful in helping me choose different parts while staying on my budget. She did talk a bit too fast for me, but everything was perfect. I received my computer 6 days (yesterday) after I ordered it which was pretty fast considering they had to build it first. The computer was double boxed for protection which was very impressive. When I plugged in the computer, the fan made a loud clanking noise. It sounded like it was hitting something, I noticed that two of the cables from the power supply were in the fans way. After a few minutes of tilting the computer at odd angles I finally got them out of the way. So far this computer has been great with the exception of the fan thing, but I can't really blame them since the Rosewill 600W PSU does have abnormally long cables. So far the computer has ran everything I want it to perfectly, I will probably update every few weeks to note how the computer is doing. I definitely will refer my friends to computerlx, and I will purchase again. Thanks!

Edit 8/27/09

PC is still going great, no problems so far - not even minor ones! Can't wait for my next purchase."

"Update 11/18 After my third follow-up e-mail I DID receive a response yesterday with the license to download Windows 7. I have now completed the download process and can report that this has been resolved.

I'm glad to see so many positive reviews of this company as it gives me hope that my case was unusual.

Update 11/12-STILL No Windows 7. They DID respond to my e-mail of 11/2:

I'm looking into your serial number. I apologize for the delay, but Microsoft takes forever to respond to their authorized sellers. I understand you're anxious to upgrade, but we have to make sure the version you received is eligible, if it's not and there was some mishap with our vendor, we have to get you a new license number. We appreciate your patience.

Update 11/2-I just e-mailed AllPCZone AGAIN about Windows 7 since they did not respond to my message last week. I have still not received the new Operating System and am increasingly disappointed that a company that had previously proven so responsive has not replied to my e-mail.

UPDATE 9/30/09: I've managed to resolve most of the wireless issues on my own and now have a stable signal. I did receive a call from Ed in Tech Support who was eager to help and was ready to send out a new wireless adapter to us, so I commend their eagerness to be proactive. I have been unable to find a time to call Tech Support between 10-5 to try and resolve this.

To be fair, tech support does allow for e-mail and doesn't seem to need you to be in front of your computer when you call, but I have a hard time understanding how much tech support I can receive without being able to implement the adjustments on the spot. I'm still disappointed at the inconvenient tech support hours and that they are a long-distance phone call, but I'm hoping I won't need to use them anytime soon!

STILL no word from AllPCZone about Windows7, and the release date is about 3 weeks away. I'm not sure whether this is something that will simply show up in my mailbox or inbox. I will update again when I have more news.

Original review:
Overall, I'm fairly happy with our purchase. We got the best price, and with a three year warranty. Katie, who works in the customer service department, was very helpful on a couple of different occasions. She assisted us with making adjustments and recommendations on a case and a power supply.

Thus far, I've only been unhappy with two things-the quality of the wireless performance (we included a Rosewill Wireless-G adapter), and I don't know if it's a defective card or just the performance of Vista on wireless, but we have serious latency and frequent disconnects. I spoke with my Microsoft-certified brother and even he was at a loss for any other options, so I'm hoping that their tech support can help me. I bought the PC and added a lot of upgrades in the buying process because of online gaming, and it has been a singularly frustrating experience to have those countered by an inability to remain online with any reasonable surety.

Unfortunately, technical support is only open M-F during the day (when I'm at work at not at home to do troubleshooting), and the one time I tried to call they were on vacation for a week, so I haven't been able to resolve this yet. One important thing to note, also, is that while sales is toll-free, tech support is not-this doesn't bother me because I have flat rate calling, but it is worth mentioning.

I'd hoped to hold off on my review until I actually got a hold of someone, but it's been about a month so I figured I'd better post.

The other matter that I'm waiting on is the update to Windows 7. I e-mailed before ordering to make sure that if I bought a Vista PC from ComputerLX that it would have a free upgrade to Windows 7. Nothing came in the box, and I haven't heard anything, so I'll update this and the tech support if/when I manage to get them resolved.

As far as machine and sales, the company is good-lots of great options for customizing my i7 system to be just what I wanted and with reasonably priced features (I wouldn't have saved much money building it myself). Internet aside, everything has been great.

"Computer arrived 9/22/2007 and was unpacked and started up right away. Loaded Microsoft Vista and achieved Internet access within an hour.
Computer ran fine for 1 week, then mysteriously died. AllPcZone sent 2 new Power Supplies, figuring that the problem was there.
After both did not start the computer, we tried using my limited ability and the phone to test for solutions. After two tries at that, I was told to return it and they would fix it.
Today, 10/18 my computer is on the way back.
AllPcZone honors warranties and guarantees their work.
I think that they beat Circuit City and Best Buy hands down. I like the computer and appreciate the technical work done.
No problem.
11/11/2007
Big problem. Sent back computer, and it would not start up. I talked to their tech people, and after some effort, no response. I reluctantly removed the side and discovered that the motherboard was hanging loose in the enclosure. None of the screws had been installed.
AllPcZone wanted the computer returned again for repair. By this time I was into my pocket for the cost of the PC, plus $50.00 to ship it originally, then $24.00 for first return, and what turned out to be $30.00 for the second shipment.
C'mon. $104.00 for a box that would not work. They refused to accept responsibility for their lack of quality, repair service or any effort to admit the customer was owed some relief for lousy practice.
I returned it, as I did not need a (by this time) a $750.00 paperweight.
They started out better than Best Buy, then turned into a hack shop.
