We measured this 4" bolt against the same size designation bolt made by the Stanley/National company which we also carry on our website. The bolt she purchased measured exactly the same as this nationally known brand.

Both brands of bolts are manufactured with the AMS standards, which we explained to the customer in a previous email just what AMS stands for - Applied Mechanical Specifications and that all manufacturers we have as vendors adhere to those standards. (Also known as SAE).

This bolt has a separate slider and slider recepticle. They can be positioned close to each other or as far apart as the slider will reach. This surface bolt is commonly used to keep cupboard or regular doors closed, sometimes as an extra security precaution. It is attached to the door and the recepticle is positioned on the door frame or jam. The slider is then slid forward into the recepticle, keeping the door closed.

It is packaged in a clear plastic card and its length is clearly visible from the package without opening.

I know she is not happy with having to return these items at her own cost but had she purchased them from Home Deport or OSH, she would have had to use her own gas and own time to drive back to the store to return them for a refund. The big box stores do not reimburse their customers for their gas or time, nor do they provide free shipping back when the product is not what the customer needed after all, and neither do we or most other online retailers.

Our return policy is posted on our website under FAQ, which can be consulted at any time, and read before an order is placed so that the customer will know our policies before placing an order.

We did let this customer know we would be happy to refund the product costs except for the one she opened, which is stated in our policy.
