"I reside in Florida. My daughter resides in Washington. I recently used Home Depot's on line service and ordered a dishwasher for my daughter for her birthday. I paid in advance for installation and for removal of the old dishwasher...a service that is clearly advertised on their website.

Upon the so called "installers" arrival, they left the dishwasher in my daughters living room and said they could not install the DW because Home Depot did not allow them to install a dishwasher where there is a pvc turn off valve as opposed to a metal turn off valve. They said they run into this problem all the time with customers. Hmmm...a convenient way to sell dishwashers and not have to hire properly trained people titled "installers" in my opinion.

First off...how would a customer know what type of turn off valve they have? Most would not know to check for this if not told. No where on the Home Depot webpage does it qualify installation by saying be sure to find out what kind of turn off valve you have before you make purchase of our appliance and or pay for our installation services. All I know is there is a dishwasher already in the house when we purchased the home, and we wanted to put a new dishwasher in and hired the store that advertised they did installations.

We now have a brand new dishwasher in the package sitting in the living room and the old dishwasher which they advertise they remove, is still sitting in the kitchen where it was to begin with. They didn't even take the OLD dishwasher with them which they advertise they do.

Their customer service department offered an apology..that is it.

NOTE: I inquired about a refund and they say they do not refund anything purchased via their on line home page ordering service.

Home Depot MISREPRESENTS their products and services in my opinion.

BUYER BEWARE of ordering anything via their ONLINE store."

"Went to Home Depot in Hempstead NY 2 days ago looking for outdoor shutters and indoor shutters....they don't have them anymore. Lowes did....Went yesterday for plexiglass to use as a window in my garage. Home Depot couldn't cut it for me. Went to Lowes and they could...From now on Lowes will be my first stop."

"I went to Home Depot with my first major rehab project. I wanted to get a discount plus have some financing (at least 6 months so I could make draws on the loan). Two guys told me that would not be a problem but I have to get open a Home Depot card for the financing, which I didn't really want. The guy was helpful in helping me get product I will give him that, but when the bid from the bid room came back he said he could get 10% off everything except the custom sized windows which were already discounted 15%. I was fine with that. I understand you can't double dip on discounts. Apparently he didn't get anything from the bid room. Rather than tell me that he told me I could get 10% what I didn't realize was I was being juked into opening up a credit card, but since I was opening the credit card that I didn't want in the first place to get the financing, I couldn't also open up the credit card for 10%. So I asked them what is the discount on everything but the windows. Turns out they were offering a 0.5%. So now I have to open up a card I didn't want, battle for the 10% and the 12 month financing, waste 3 hours of my time, and be annoyed for what I would have done but opening up a credit card and never talking to an associate.

Now they will probably post some lame reply that every bid is handled individually and the specifics of my order did not allow them to offer a favorable rate, but the truth is they did nothing and then deceptively set a up a smoke screen to try to make me feel happy about it. They should have at least been honest. Then they will probably say something lame like it is policy or training of our associates to be deceptive but the reality it happened."

"Ive always had the highest quality tools available when I needed them at Home Depot. As a veteran of 24 yrs in the Air Force, I send all military personnel there if they have a need or need some expertise in acconplishjng a project at home."

"I was in Home Depot the other day, and wanted to order a item in the store that I found online. I asked one of the associate and they indicated that the item could only be ordered online. I would like to make a suggestion, and that is to give access in the store to customers with to place online orders. One must remember that a Home Depot Associate could be helpful with making the choice. I did order the item online and it arrived in two days."

"We recently bought some paint at home depot and it was great! We wanted a color that was in Glidden but they were able to make it in Behr too. We love the color and our new walls look fantastic!"

"I cannot say enough good things about Home Depot. For one, they offer a military discount and I support anyone who supports our troops. You can even get the military discount for online orders if you phone it in. Whenever I go into my local store in Gaylord, MI I am greeted by more than one employee and I'm usually asked if I need help. I've applied for a job at HD in the past and their application process is one of the best and easiest to use. One of the greatest men I've ever known started out his career there before moving on to police work.

The only time I had to contact customer service was when a local newsletter said HD would be offering a 20% discount on Veteran's Day instead of their usual 10%. I couldn't find anything official stating this so I emailed customer service. They replied the next day and informed me that the discount was still only 10% and the rep asked about the newsletter so she could follow up. I was bummed because I was going to go on a shopping spree! But of course that was no blemish on HD; it was the newsletter for putting out false info. I'm appreciative of the discount they give me and for the quick and thorough response from the rep."
