"I'll keep this short. I use this machine for creating 3D animations in my 2-person studio. It has been a joy to use, and still doing great a year later. The customization experience and customer service were great! Worth every penny. I got exactly what I needed and I can get my work done faster. "

"I purchased a new laptop from Origin PC in February, 2012. I was very impressed with the performance of the machine, but I didn’t realize that the EON17 would be such a big rig, and as a frequent traveler who needs to travel much lighter than that, I had to return the computer. I thought that Origin would grumble about it, take the computer back, and then send me on my merry way. But the folks at Origin surprised me by contacting me and helping me to find a computer that better fit my needs. They went so far as to help me choose the features I needed and took the extra time to explain everything to me. I am not a computer wiz, but I am a consumer who needs a powerful laptop for work and play, and Origin’s staff made me feel comfortable throughout the process. Within a few days, my old laptop went back to Origin, and they sent me my new laptop soon afterwards, which was everything I was looking for. Two thumbs up!"

"Buyer beware! Origin has a 30 day money back guarantee, but they don't have any provisions for defective units. So, when they send you a defective PC and you return it under the guarantee you are charged a 15% restocking fee.

I recently purchased an EON-17-S Professional Laptop. I began to notice problems immediately with the unit as I was trying to transfer my data files to it; it would occasionally corrupt files. I spent the next 5 days troubleshooting, with moderate assistance from Origin technical support. The bottom line is that this machine could not reliably transfer files between either the internal drives nor external eSATA drives without occasional corruption. I decided to return the unit under 30 day money back guarantee. I was charged a $335 restocking fee to take advantage of this guarantee! Most vendors do not charge a restocking fee when returning defective units. Origin is not such a vendor. I would recommend shopping elsewhere. So much for trying to support American workers. I'll go back to Dell/HP; they might build their units in China, but neither one of them has ever sent me a defective unit."

"Where to begin? Who to blame? What is the solution?

Let me apologize in advance for the length of this post.

I own a small computer consulting firm and usually build my own systems. However, this once I thought I would spoil myself and let someone else do the work. So I searched high and low for the top three high end system builders. Needless to say Origin PC came out on top. Origin's claim of, "focus on the customer experience", rang true in many online reviews.

The exciting beginning. I ordered a nice system. Not an insane gamer system but one that could handle serious work.
Intel i7 Hex core, 12GB RAM and I added 4 additional 1TB hard drives.
ASUS RAMPAGE III Extreme MB. OC capable but use default settings.
OCZ 240GB PCIE based SSD drive for the OS.
Nvidia 1GB video and the other obvious equipment.

Full APC power protection system.

The system arrives in an impressive wooden crate. Got everything setup and hit the power switch. WOW. From power on to completed Windows load, less than 7 seconds. I'm grinning and thinking OCZ rules. As I had other issues demanding my attention I had to leave the system for about 4 hours.
On return the system is powered down. Hmmm, odd. I reboot and all seems well. About 30 minutes later as I'm moving personal data over to this new system it just suddenly reboots. What the...? Again, I reboot but this time I begin a thorough review of the Event Logs.

What's this? I see Kernel Power loss reboots. What is more interesting is I see 3 of these log entries on the same day that the Origin lab signed off the system as ready for shipment. You are kidding right?

This scenario rapidly deteriorated. Reboots every 30 minutes and finally the OCZ PCIE SSD just fried. Origin and I agree to go with a more traditional OCZ SSD and give up on the PCIE. Same problems. The system will not stay online. Origin agrees to send me a new system and I pay for a new case that is theirs.

Second system arrives and I ship out the old one. I update MB Bios and install some Intel drivers to help with Sata III issues with the OCZ SSD. Also, the system is now rebooting and freezing. As it turns out Origin advises me not to use the onboard Marvel controller as it is not dependable. Ughhh, ok.
Then why did I order a SATA III SSD boot drive and additional drives if I am limited to SATA II? Anyway, Origin now sends me a Crucial M4 256GB SSD and advises that I buy a Adaptec SATA III controller if want to take advantage of SATA III speeds.
After updating the M4 firmware, re-installing windows from scratch and installing Intel RST the system seems stable.

Roughly 4-5 months go by and all hell breaks loose again. Reboots non stop. I research the ASUS MB and notice that ASUS has deactivated the product. Many users on the internet have the exact same complaints that I have. What's worse is they report that ASUS could care less and offers no help.

Origin ships me a new motherboard, and power supply. No change, the system will not even stay powered while in the MB BIOS. No windows loaded. I strip the system down to just the MB, Video, and power. Same result. Will not stay powered. Ship the system out to Origin.

Talk to Origin and let them know that I will be reviewing the Event logs so please don't send the system back with failures recorded in the lab. They go through 2 more Motherboards, new CPU, new RAM, and new PSU. They ship the system back.

Guess what? 3 hours later the damn system powers down by itself. So, I go to review the event logs. The lab technician apparently got my message. The event logs were deleted the day they shipped out the system. Are you kidding me? That's my system your deleting data from. How arrogant. How completely
unacceptable.

Oh, one additional surprise. I removed one of my 1TB drives that
contained sensitive data. Only needed to slide it out of the
drive cage. That particular drive slot no longer works. Had to bypass it today. Ughhh, this just keeps getting better.

For 10 months I have remained calm and appreciative of the technical challenge that Origin faces each day. I know, I work in the same industry. Obviously the time for a calm demeanor and appreciation of technical challenges is now over.

In fairness, much of this insanity obviously rest with ASUS. However, I purchased in good faith, the Origin Experience.

So, here I sit 10 months and $5,000.00 later pondering the Origin experience.

The best I can come up with is, Where to begin? Who to blame? What is the solution?

"I ordered my PC from Origin about a year ago. I'm pretty happy with it, I haven't had any issues, and it's been running great ever since the day I got it, with the exception of one of my hard drive failing six months down the road, but I don't chalk that up as Origin's fault, plus it was an excuse to get an upgrade :). The only negative I have to say is that the computer really cost me a pretty penny. A few months after I got mine, a friend of mine got a similarly configured PC from Ironside Computers. He paid several hundred dollars less then me. I'm not upset about the computer Origin gave me, I got what I paid for, it's just the thought of what I could've done with the money I saved that really bugs me :). Overall, still happy with the computer just wished they would be a bit more reasonable with their prices."

"Exceptional! Origin PC is a true ORIGINal when it comes to quality and customer service!

When it comes to retail service, I have come to expect an average experience. But with Origin PC the experience was exceptional. From the first phone call, to the expeditious delivery before Christmas - purchasing the Origin PC was seamless, proficient and professional. The PC is in a class all by itself with superior graphics, lightning speed, brilliant color and inventive design. Honorable mention goes to Miguel Ocando who went above and beyond to ensure delivery, communicate to a novice how to "build" the computer and, personally went out to the warehouse to find a crate for display. Hands down, the Origin PC is the best computer available today. Add in the quality of Origin's customer service and personal follow up for satisfaction and you have the singularly best computer buying experience ever. Five Star Experience!"

"I purchased my first Origin system a little over a year and a half ago. The machine is still dominating newly-released games (BF3, Skyrim, SW:ToR, etc.) with great performance on maxed-out settings. I've never had a system last me this long before the inevitable "looks like I have to lower the graphics slider down a bit" takes effect... and it doesn't show any signs of letting up any time soon. I haven't had to update or add any hardware to maintain this level of performance. (To provide a bit of background context: I personally built my last 3 gaming computers from scratch. I wanted to go with a "built for me" option this time around due to being out-of-the-loop on current hardware specs, and frankly did not feel like building another this time around.)

I originally chose Origin based off of the ability to completely customize my build, starting from the case and working my way through literally *every* component in the system. They have an huge collection of the hardware you'd expect for building a high performance machine, and if for some reason they don't carry the part you want, they'll get it for you if you request it. They had everything I needed as part of their standard parts line-up, so I didn't use this custom request option.

Build Quality: When I unboxed the system, I was highly impressed with the build quality (and the shipping quality! nicely boxed, protected by a nice cloth cover on the case, and carefully padded inside the case to avoid hardware getting bounced around or dislodged during shipping). The cable management was incredible, which will of course depend on the case you choose, but I chose the Corsair Obsidian 800D as it lets you hide pretty much every cable in the machine. There were no flaws on the case, glass, or any of the components as a result of the build process, everything was in perfect shape. Their sealed liquid cooling system is also helpful in eliminating case clutter, and looks nice as well. I opted to spend a couple bucks extra for the case lighting, and love the blue glow I selected. Also, since the desktop systems are built with standard hardware, and not proprietary cases and motherboards, upgrade options down the road are really easy to do yourself.

Performance: As I mentioned, the machine continues to run all my games at max settings with no problems, over a year and a half later. I elected to get the i7 980X 3.33GHz at the time of purchase, with an ATI 5870. When the time does come to upgrade, I should be able to get by with simply upgrading my graphics card and I'll be good to go for another couple of years. I've recently overclocked the processor to 4.0GHz with no issues, and rock-solid stability. Their sealed liquid cooling was more than enough to keep CPU temps down. Origin will also overclock the system for you as well, for a reasonable price, if you aren't the type that likes to mess around in your BIOS settings. Overall, I couldn't be happier with the performance.

Customer Service: I went to Origin for the customization options, but I'll *stay* with Origin due to their outstanding customer service. Jamie, my sales rep, was incredibly helpful in steering me towards the right options for the system I wanted to build. He was also very patient when I asked question after question during my build process. Origin is also good about keeping in touch with you during the build process and letting you know when things ship. I've never had any issues with the system, but when I had some technical questions regarding overclocking and possible RAM incompatibility, their tech support was also quite helpful in answering anything I asked. Their support is based in the USA, which is very nice. One other small perk is that they'll set up your new system with your preferred user name and other preferences, such as preferred browser or AV. Not needed, but a nice personalized touch.

Recent Purchase: I bought my second system from Origin in December, but this time it was a Christmas gift from my family to my brother (whom I game with regularly, it's how we keep in touch pretty much, and his previous gaming computer was dying a terrible and slow death). Once again, I worked with Jamie through system build questions (lots), delivery options (had to time it perfectly for the holiday), and was able to set up a killer gaming rig for my brother, and get it delivered just in time for Christmas. I checked it out while at his home for the holidays, and once again, the build quality was excellent and everything arrived in perfect order. I'm a little jealous of the components in his new system, but that's OK, he can't shoot straight in Battlefield to save himself anyway. ;)

Conclusion: Long story short (too late)... I highly recommend Origin PC, and will definitely be going back to them when the time comes to get a new computer. Funny thing though, it's the same build quality and ability to be upgraded that brought me to Origin that will prevent me from *needing* to go back for a full system in the near future. When the time comes though, I'll definitely be a repeat customer!"

"Best Laptop Ever! Great customer service!

These guys havebeen nothing short of amazing. I contacted them initially with some questions, they were prompt, honest, and knowledgable. When i purchased my laptop it took about 2 weeks to ship.. but realize this is a CUSTOM BUILT machine! This is actually quite a short turn around on a handmade laptop. Lots of options so you can really get the custom machine you want. Its fast. So fast that its probably on par with my desktop which cost nearly twice as much... thats a real testament to the tweaking and testing they do! Would i reccomend it? Absolutely.. and i'd reccomend against using anything BUT an Origin PC!"

"The pricing on the system was competitive, and the computer I received is working great. However, the system took almost a month from order date, to receipt of the system, and it shipped a week and a half after their estimated ship date."

"I owned a Dell and I owned Alienware. I decided to go for Origin because I did some research and read some positive reviews. I liked the idea that they are located in the United States. I did not want to call another country to get help and be bounced around 20 different departments and be placed on hold. I wanted to buy from a company that placed their customers first...Not their shareholders. I have owned my Origin Millenium for over a month and its the best computer I have ever owned. I finally found a computer and Company that I like. Sorry Alienware...But you should have not sold out to Dell."
